Thanks to Mayela for volunteering to be one of my portraits! I was experimenting with a technique I saw in a book of painting over a green background, and it ended up giving the painting a greenish glow.
One challenge of this painting was that the photo Mayela gave me to work on really didn't have much contrast. I think Mayela just shined a harsh light on herself and snapped a picture of herself. I tried to emphasize what little shading there was.
